For me, just finishing school was a challenge that I knew I would face. I have gone back to school a few times and always faced something that would keep me from completing.

2022 PCC graduate spotlight: Jason Boardman
Program: Graphic design

What are your immediate and long-term plans after graduating?

My plan after graduation is to grow my graphic design and marketing business and do freelance and contract work.

What have you enjoyed the most about PCC?

The sense of community. Our core group, meaning the group of students that all started around the same time, has grown into a family. We've come up together and grown together. That sense of community is super important to me.

What is the most memorable instruction or advice you’ve gotten from a professor or advisor?

I really appreciate and am grateful to have (department chair) Shawna Shoaf's encouragement to keep moving forward. She wouldn't let me give up when part of me wanted to. After a lifetime of being told what I couldn't do, I finally had people telling me what I could do and she was one of them.

Have you faced any challenges that PCC has helped you overcome?

For me, just finishing school was a challenge that I knew I would face. I have gone back to school a few times and always faced something that would keep me from completing.  A lot of those times I was standing in my own way. PCC made the whole process fairly easy so I really had no excuse as to why I couldn't finish.
