Student Senate's Make-Up
Student Senate is the recognized student governing organization that gives students a representative forum for providing input, both to Senate and to the college’s administration, on issues that impact them while they are enrolled at PCC. Senate promotes an atmosphere for meaningful educational and social experiences that enhance student success and relations with the community.

It supervises and appropriates designated funds, coordinates special student activities, provides social programs, and represents student concerns to the administration and faculty. Student Senate is also responsible for appointing student representatives to college and state committees.

According to its bylaws, Senate’s specific functions include:
• Acting as a liaison between students and PCC's administration.
• Preparing regular reports of activities for the college president.
• Advising the college president about issues concerning student fees.
• Meeting regularly with the college president or his/her designee.
• Renewing and approving/revoking charters for student organizations.
• Approving/denying amended bylaws submitted by chartered clubs.
• Reviewing applications for and determining distribution of student funds.

Senate is comprised of seven elected officers, four elected or appointed at-large members (including one from the Fremont Campus) who are not representatives of any student club, a State Senate Activities Council representative and a representative of every student club on campus. Senate members are always expected to conduct themselves with the highest ethical, professional and courteous standards.
