About our Main Campus Student Ambassadors

 

 

Kent Clifton is currently enrolled at Pueblo Community College with an ultimate goal of obtaining an associate degree in criminal justice.  He has attended two semesters and plans on graduating in May 2012. He cherishes the opportunity as a Student Ambassador to help future PCC students become as successful as they wish to be.  You can contact Kent at Kent.Clifton@pueblocc.edu

 

Anthony Atencio is attending Pueblo Community College and plans to graduate in May 2012 with his Associates of Arts in Business Management. He plans to further his education and eventually obtain an MBA and emphasize in marketing. Currently he serves as an officer for Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society. He loves the outdoors and all that Colorado has to offer including all of its professional sports teams. Louis Trevizo is attending PCC to earn an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in Elementary Education.  He plans to graduate in the fall of 2012 and transfer to CSU-Pueblo to pursue his bachelor’s degree. Louis is very grateful that he was selected to represent PCC as a Student Ambassador.  He hopes to be a role model for the nontraditional and current students.  Louis will go above and beyond to make sure that your educational learning at PCC is memorable.  You can contact Louis at Louis.Trevizo@pueblocc.edu.

 

Shawna Lee Terrones is attending Pueblo Community College as a proud recipient of the Kane Family Foundation Scholarship, which will give her the opportunity to earn her bachelor degree under the full ride scholarship.  While at Pueblo Community College she plans to earn a degree in Dental Hygiene.  Once Shawna Lee has completed her associate’s degree, she plans to transfer to the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs where she will continue to work on her bachelor degree in biology.  Shawna is very excited to begin her freshman year at PCC and she feels that the college is a great place and the staff members are extra helpful.  As part of the 2011-2012 Student Ambassador team, she plans to be a positive influence to everyone and help assist in any way she can.  You can contact Shawna at Shawna.Terrones@pueblocc.edu.

 

Toni Skilling is returning to school after many years as a manager in a quick serve restaurant.  She found returning to school was not as intimidating as she thought it would be.  PCC staff made the transition a very positive experience.  She is a business major and hopes to open her own candy store one day.  She enjoys spending time with her son, reading and skiing.  She looks forward to working with current and future students to Pueblo Community College.  You can contact Toni at Toni.Skilling@pueblocc.edu.

 

 Nia Iberg is a 17 year old high school student at Southern Colorado Early College.  She attends PCC through the Early College pathway to earn an associate degree alongside her high school diploma.  She has lived in Pueblo for 13 years and has attended Swallows Charter Academy for 12 of them.  After PCC, she plans on attending Ft. Ashley Kushner is attending Pueblo Community College to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiology.  Ashley believes that PCC is a wonderful campus.  The staff members are helpful and caring.  She says, “the professors care about their students and make sure that their students learn and have good study environments.”  Ashley also feels that the extra attention that is there for students in need of help is absolutely the best, such as tutoring and ProShops.  Ashley enjoys helping fellow students with any questions and concerns they may have.  You can contact Ashley at Ashley.Kushner@pueblocc.edu.

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Overview

The Main Campus Student Ambassador program allows PCC the opportunity to recognize special honor students and to utilize their talents to provide outreach into the college and local community.  The program provides a part-time employment opportunity while simultaneously providing hands on leadership skills for students attending the Pueblo campus.

 

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Benefits

§         Ambassadors will receive a starting wage of $8.25 per hour for work performed on behalf of the college between 15 and 20 hours per week.

§         Opportunity to make a positive impact on campus and in the community.

§         Highly marketable and versatile job skills.

§         Networking and community service opportunities with on and off campus individuals and organizations.

§         Leadership training and development and hands on work experience

§         Assisting local youth with college awareness and enrollment process

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Qualifications

§         Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.000 or above and have completed at least 9 credit hours at PCC at the 100 level or higher.

§         Applicant must have a genuine interest in assisting others to attend college.

§         Applicant must enroll at least half-time (6 credits) for fall and spring during year of employment.  Applicant must be willing to work one full academic year.

§         Applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on program demand.

§         Applicant must have customer service experience including working one-on-one and via phone with clients/customers.

§         Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Word, Access, Excel) and proficient keyboarding skills.

§         Applicant must have proficient keyboarding skills.

§         Willingness to speak publicy. 

§         Willingness to work with local high schools.

§         Ability to work well with others on a team.

§         Ability to work independently when needed.

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Job Responsibilities

§         Conduct campus tours for individuals and groups.

§         Staff college information table at career fairs and events.

§         Assist with planning, implementing and evaluating recruitment, and graduation activities as needed.

§         Assist with walk-in registration to guide new students through the process.

§         Accompany staff on visits to business organizations, service clubs and other college meetings or activities as requested.

§         Perform other duties as requested by the Office of Recruitment

§         Visit local high schools consistently throughout the semester to work with prospective students. 

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Work Schedule & Supervision

§         Ambassadors must be willing to participate in a mandatory training session prior to the start of the fall semester.  .

§         Hours will vary from approximately 15 - 20 hours a week.

§         Ambassadors may be required to work nights and weekends for outreach and public relation events.

 

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Evaluation

The performance of each Ambassador will be evaluated on a regular basis. If work performance does not meet satisfactory standards, the Student Ambassador may be placed on probation, asked not to complete the semester or not to reapply to the program. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.000 in order to remain in the program.

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Selection Process

§         Applications will be available in the spring semester and must be submitted by stated deadline. 

§         Applicants who meet necessary criteria will be interviewed by a selection committee.  Selected applicants will be forwarded through the next phase.

§         Selected applicants will be required to take a drug screening and background check.

§         Upon satisfactory background check results, selected applicant names will be forwarded to the Vice President of Student Services for a disciplinary clearance signature prior to final appointments.

§         Final appointments will be made by the Office of Recruitment. 

§         Student will be notified of selection and will be required to sign a Student Ambassador contract which includes information on job duties and requirements.

§         Selection will be for a one-year appointment.

§         Current Ambassadors must reapply annually.

§         Commitment to ethical conduct is expected of every Ambassador. This includes, but is not limited to the following imperatives:

§         Contribute to society and human well-being.

§         Avoid harm to others.

§         Be honest and trustworthy.

§         Be fair and take action not to discriminate.

§         Respect the privacy of others.

§         Honor confidentially.

Fremont Campus Student Ambassador Program Overview
