What does the college look like?
Never stepped foot on campus? What a surprise you are in for! We believe we have the most beautiful community college campus in the state of Colorado. Nestled in the central area of Pueblo, the main campus is surrounded by trees, and landscaping that will make you feel as though you are on a university campus.
What would an average week as a college student look like?
An average week would all depend on your other committments including family and work, however let's assume you decide to take a "full load" of classes which is 12 credits or more. This would equate to approximately 12 hours spent in class. Below is an example class schedule:
Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
8 a.m.
9a.m. English English English
10 a.m. Math Math Math
11 a.m. Speech Speech Speech
12 a.m. Psychology Psychology
1 p.m. Psychology Psychology
2 p.m.
3 p.m.
4 p.m.
Many instructors estimate that for every hour spent in class, students should spend 2 hours doing homework, so this equals 24 hours of homework. With class and study time, your week will consist of approximately 36 hours. Considering many individuals are awake for 14 hours per day, you have 98 waking hours during the week, so this leaves you with 62 hours for a part-time job, family activities and fun activities!

How am I going to pay for college?
This is usually the first question on the minds of individuals considering attending college. Surprisingly, college is not as expensive as you might think. A "full load" which means 12 credit hours or usually about four courses, the cost is $1,005.92. Books and supplies may run about $400 so a total of $1,405.92. Considering that if you are eligible for a full Federal Pell grant (see financial aid) your award may be around $2,025, after paying these necessary fees, you would actually have $594.08 left over to pay for living expense. Our Financial Aid Office will help you through the steps of applying for federal aid.
The State of Colorado also offers a great website with information on financing your college education, including a Financial Aid Estimator to give you an idea of what federal aid you may be eligible for. Click here to be taken to the Financial Aid Estimator.
Now we know that all students may not be eligible for the federal Pell so that is why we provide information on available scholarships. Click here to see a list of scholarships currently available.
In addition to Federal aid and scholarship, PCC also offers excellent payment plans for individuals paying on their own. Click here to see our payment options.
How much will it cost if I don't want to take 12 credits?
Many of our students choose to come to college part-time due to busy home and work life. The cost of courses will vary based on the number of classes and how many credits each course is. Generally, courses are 3 credits, however there are courses that can range from 1 to 5 credits each. Click here to see our tuition and fee table.

This diversity in age also brings an interesting flair to your class experience whereas you will learn different perspectives and opinions.
How long will it take?
It really depends on which program you would like to study and if there are remedial courses you need. Depending on the program or certificate you choose, it can take anywhere from one semester to six semesters. Your advisor will be able to outline a plan specifically for you.
What is there to do other than go to class?
PCC has a strong Student Senate that is always looking for individuals who would like to help with activities. Additionally, we have a Student Activities Board whose job it is to bring in activities and entertainment to the college. There are also over 20 clubs to choose from to participate in.
