PCC First

PCC First is an event geared toward high school seniors who are considering PCC as a college choice.  The event consists of information on applying for admission, steps to becoming a student, scheduling advising appointments, mingling with other students who are considering PCC, lunch, tour of the campus and fun activities.  This event is a must if you are even considering PCC!  Please contact your high school counselor to let him/her know that you are interested in attending or RSVP for the event by emailing Dominique.Regalado@pueblocc.edu

PCC First! Dates:

  • To be announced

College Preparation Schedule:

  • November - Program Shadows and Applications.  Work with our Recruitment Staff to schedule a shadow visit with one of our programs that you are interested in.  Hands on activities will help you understand what studying in the particular area will actually be like.  Our Recruitment Staff will also help you in completing an application for admission to the college.
  • December - Preparation for the Spring.  Now is the time to begin planning for financial aid and scholarship applications.  Encourage your parents to complete their income taxes as soon as they receive their W-2 forms-the sooner they file their income taxes, the sooner you can apply for Federal financial aid.  Those who apply before March 15 have priority over awards!  Now is also the time to be on the lookout for scholarship opportunities.  Deadlines are generally in March or April so this will give you some time to prepare your application.  Many applications also require an essay so start a rough draft explaining your educational goals and have an English teacher proof read it for you.  Finally, mark your calendar to attend PCC First! in April, which is a day to get registered, receive student ID and prepare for your first semester as a college Student!  Avoid scheduling doctor appointments or class presentations on the day assigned to your school to ensure that you can get everything taken care of in one day.
  • January - Scholarships.  Now is when you need to kick into high gear on your scholarship search and preparation.  If you would like tips or assistance with the search or application process, feel free to call the Recruitment Office and our staff will be happy to help point you in the right direction. Also visit our scholarship websites at: www.pueblocc.edu/AboutUs/Foundation/FoundationScholarships/ and www.pueblocc.edu/Admissions/PayingForCollege/OtherScholarships/Scholarships.htm
  • February - Financial aid applications.  This month you get permission to bug your parents-to do their income tax returns that is.  By now, anyone who works will have received their W-2 forms and are able to complete their income tax returns which is your ticket to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Come on campus and stop in our Financial Aid office, located in College Center, Room 258 for assistance with completing this form.
  • March - Scholarships and PCC First!  Now is the time to turn in your scholarship applications-even if the deadline is not in March, turning in your applications early is a good idea and just may give you application priority over those who turn theirs in at the last minute.  Also be sure PCC First! is on your calendar and notify your counselor that you intend to attend.  They will need to know this information for their attendance records.
  • April - PCC First!  This is the month you and your parents have been waiting for. At PCC First! you will have a fun and busy day becoming a college student.
