About our Main Campus Student Ambassadors

 

Daniel Moore holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology which he received from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in 2008 and is enrolled at PCC pursuing an Associate of Science degree in the Physical Therapy Assistant program.  He plans to graduate in the spring of 2010 and from there attend a Doctorate program for Physical Therapy in Colorado after graduation.  Daniel recently relocated to Pueblo from Colorado Springs and feels that PCC’s warm environment with teachers that care about their students development and learning makes PCC a great choice for any student.  Contact Daniel at Daniel.Moore@pueblocc.edu.

 

Chris Weaver is a freshman at PCC and plans to eventually transfer to UCCS to further his studies.  Chris is a proud recipient of the Kane Family Scholarship which is a transfer scholarship and the reason why he is attending both PCC and UCCS.  Chris says that career options for his future include writing, teaching and coaching.  He says he is very excited to be an Ambassador for this amazing college and can’t wait to show people what PCC has to offer.   You can contact Chris at Christopher.Weaver@pueblocc.edu.

 

Josh Dasher is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in Performing Arts.  He has been attending PCC for one year and plans to transfer to a four-year school and major in music and theatre.  Josh enjoys PCC because of the opportunities it provides to pursue dreams, and he hopes to help others find the same chance.  You can contact Josh at Joshua.Dasher@pueblocc.edu.

 

Jordyn Hiner is will complete her Associate of General Studies degree studies in Fall 2009 and then plans to transfer to CSU-Pueblo to work toward her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.  She feels that PCC is a perfect academic environment for first-time college students because teachers and staff make students feel welcome and help them in any way they can. Tessa Coy is in her second year as a Student Ambassador and her final year at PCC.  She will be transferring to CSU-Pueblo to finish her degree in secondary education.  Tessa is always happy to assist all students and staff with any of their needs.  You can email Tessa at Tessa.Coy@pueblocc.edu

 

Amy Harriss is a history major and would like to take on a theatre minor.  She aspires to teach history at the high school and collegiate levels.  She says that PCC has been a wonderful experience for her and is looking forward to new experiences and friends in the future.  You can contact Amy at Amy.Harriss@pueblocc.edu.

 

Andrea Bowen is attending PCC to earn an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in Secondary Education.  She has attended PCC for four semesters and really enjoys the school.  She says her teachers have been great and her classes are enjoyable.  In the future she plans to transfer to CSU-Pueblo.  You can contact Andrea at Andrea.Bowen@pueblocc.edu

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Overview

The Main Campus Student Ambassador program allows PCC the opportunity to recognize special honor students and to utilize their talents to provide outreach into the college and local community.  The program provides a part-time employment opportunity while simultaneously providing hands on leadership skills for students attending the Pueblo campus.

 

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Benefits

§         Ambassadors will receive a starting wage of $8.25 per hour for work performed on behalf of the college between 15 and 20 hours per week.

§         Opportunity to make a positive impact on campus and in the community.

§         Highly marketable and versatile job skills.

§         Networking and community service opportunities with on and off campus individuals and organizations.

§         Leadership training and development and hands on work experience

§         Assisting local youth with college awareness and enrollment process

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Qualifications

§         Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.600 or above and have completed at least 9 credit hours at PCC at the 100 level or higher.

§         Applicant must have a genuine interest in assisting others to attend college.

§         Applicant must enroll at least half-time (6 credits) for fall and spring during year of employment.  Applicant must be willing to work one full academic year.

§         Applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on program demand.

§         Applicant must have customer service experience including working one-on-one and via phone with clients/customers.

§         Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Word, Access, Excel) and proficient keyboarding skills.

§         Applicant must have proficient keyboarding skills.

§         Willingness to speak publicy. 

§         Willingness to work with local high schools.

§         Ability to work well with others on a team.

§         Ability to work independently when needed.

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Job Responsibilities

§         Conduct campus tours for individuals and groups.

§         Staff college information table at career fairs and events.

§         Assist with planning, implementing and evaluating recruitment, and graduation activities as needed.

§         Assist with walk-in registration to guide new students through the process.

§         Accompany staff on visits to business organizations, service clubs and other college meetings or activities as requested.

§         Perform other duties as requested by the Office of Recruitment

§         Visit local high schools consistently throughout the semester to work with prospective students. 

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Work Schedule & Supervision

§         Ambassadors must be willing to participate in a mandatory training session prior to the start of the fall semester.  .

§         Hours will vary from approximately 15 - 20 hours a week.

§         Ambassadors may be required to work nights and weekends for outreach and public relation events.

 

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Evaluation

The performance of each Ambassador will be evaluated on a regular basis. If work performance does not meet satisfactory standards, the Student Ambassador may be placed on probation, asked not to complete the semester or not to reapply to the program. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.200 in order to remain in the program.

Main Campus Student Ambassador Program Selection Process

§         Applications will be available in the spring semester and must be submitted by stated deadline. 

§         Applicants who meet necessary criteria will be interviewed by a selection committee.  Selected applicants will be forwarded through the next phase.

§         Selected applicants will be required to take a drug screening and background check.

§         Upon satisfactory drug screen and background check results, selected applicant names will be forwarded to the Dean of Student Services for a disciplinary clearance signature prior to final appointments.

§         Final appointments will be made by the Office of Recruitment. 

§         Student will be notified of selection and will be required to sign a Student Ambassador contract which includes information on job duties and requirements.

§         Selection will be for a one-year appointment.

§         Current Ambassadors must reapply annually.

§         Commitment to ethical conduct is expected of every Ambassador. This includes, but is not limited to the following imperatives:

§         Contribute to society and human well-being.

§         Avoid harm to others.

§         Be honest and trustworthy.

§         Be fair and take action not to discriminate.

§         Respect the privacy of others.

§         Honor confidentially.
