MAES has opened an online store to allow members the opportunity to buy a variety of merchandise with the MAES name and logo at http://www.cafeshops.com/maes_store. Members and friends of MAES can choose from a variety of clothing, drink ware, and other merchandise to show their pride in the organization.

"The quality is actually very good," said MAES student board member Will Davis. " I got a baseball jersey and the cap. Total turn around on my order was less than 7 days."

In addition to sweatshirts, T-shirts, caps, and license holders, MAES is also offering a 2004 calendar featuring events from 2003 and recent years.

IBM has donated a ThinkPad laptop for MAES to raffle to one of its student members as part of MAES' student membership registration drive. To be eligible for the drawing, students must reside in the United States, must have paid their chapter or at large dues and must have registered online with current and minimally provided a valid email address, mailing address, permanent address, graduation date and chapter information.

For the past year, MAES has been rebuilding its information infrastructure to support the gathering of statistics on its student members, as has been requested by members of its Industry Advisory Council. The types of statistics requested include such items as breakdowns of student membership by major or class.

"We are eager to get our students registered as MAES members so we can start providing companies the statistics they have been asking for," said MAES Vice-President of Outreach Keith Marrocco. "IBM's generous donation will help us provide an added incentive to students to make this possible, so we should be able to showcase the impact MAES is having on the community."

To address corporate needs, MAES has implemented a portal-based website that allows both student and professional members to maintain their own membership profile information. The Texas A&M University student chapter has helped test the system to ensure that it is ready to handle the full MAES familia.
 

Student members who register will receive membership certificates and MAES lapel pins. However, the lapel pins are currently on back-order and may not be delivered for several months.
