Meeting of March 8, 2008
Minutes
- Meeting Called to Order: Jennifer Wilton 10:06am:
- Approval of the Minutes: Veleena Vigil & Judy Henderson
- Report from Treasurer: Briana Garcia
We are short funds for members going to nationals by $830.00, and at this time did not have account balances.
- Report from Senator: Ryan Kendall
- Clock Tower: Construction of the tower will begin this summer, volunteers are needed. Ryan was informed that the club will get no recognition for this project.
- Car Wash: A committee has been formed, contact Ryan Kendall.
- Old Business
- Reminder: Check the website, Mr. Reyes posts the latest information on the ‘Announcement’ page.
- At the next meeting we will be taking nominees for Officers, if you know you cannot attend the meeting in April, let someone know you need an absentee ballot.
- New Business
- Judy Henderson: Take a Cop to Lunch: contact has been made with the Marriot, the price will run $8 per plate and a few options will be available off of the lunch menu. The club has agreed to take two members of each department for a total of 10 officers
- ACJA/LAE has requested that we take a vote on a few things:
i. Standing Rules Proposals (3) Unanimous
ii. Star Membership Nomination; Unanimous
iii. Bill Melnicoe Distinguished Service Award; Unanimous
iv. Jim Hooker Oustanding Advisor Award; Unanimous
v. Orlando W. Wilson Award for Outstanding Contribution to Law Enforcement; Unanimous
- Student Senate has put out a list of upcoming events. A sign up sheet will be going around.
Rock and Bowl: Sunday, March 9th from noon to 2.
Personal Safety w/ Dan Corsintino: Thursday, March 13th, 12- 1pm Car Show: Saturday, April 19th, all day.
ACLU Seminar: Wednesday, April 9th, 5:30p – 7:30p
- Teams have been chosen for the competition at nationals. The teams will leave on the 5th of April and are set to return the following weekend. As a result, Aprils’ meeting will need to be postponed for one week. A vote will be taken at this time.
- The Career/Referral Committee has put together a folder of the most current Federal job openings. See the Secretary for more information.
- Mr. Reyes talked about a possible chapter from the Fremont campus, fund raising for next years National Conference, Cards and pins for new members will be forth coming and PCC is paying Mr. Reyes expenses for Nationals.
- Inductions of 2 new members to National ACJA/LAE.
- Approved by vote to move April's meeting to April 19th due to members being gone to Nationals.
