  • Why this career might be right for you
Are you interested in pursuing a short term training program to enter a field with growing career opportunities? Do you like to build? According to the Associated General Contractors (AGC), Colorado is expected to experience a 7% growth in construction starts in 2018. This is 4% higher than the national average. AGC also reports that Colorado’s construction industry is facing serious labor shortages. There are just not enough skilled workers to meet industry demands. The Basic Technician Certificate can be completed in one semester. It provides training for an entry level position and introduces students to additional career opportunities within the industry.

    What Will I Learn
Students will learn Construction Technology skills that are in high demand by small and large construction firms.

The Construction Technology Program prepares students to apply basic, technical knowledge and skills in building trades and construction. This includes building, inspecting, and the maintenance of structures and related properties. Training involves using construction equipment safely; blueprint reading; building codes; construction mathematical skills (such as measurements); framing; and other related applications. Students have opportunities to visit construction sites and meet professionals working within the industry. Students gain exposure to multiple career options within the industry.

This is a new program. Students can earn a Construction Technician Basic Certificate in one semester which will provide skills for entry level positions. A level two certificate is pending state approval. Financial Aid eligibility is pending approval.
