PCC Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program promotes and organizes field-based outdoor adventure expeditions. Focusing on how small group dynamic contribute understanding the humanities of leadership. It is a specialized program for all PCC students interested in leadership development and a more intensive outdoor experience.
The Pueblo Community College Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program provides students an opportunity for personal growth, intellectual stimulation and leadership skills through outdoor adventure experiences.
The Program serves PCC students by providing low-cost outdoor activity-based trips, including whitewater rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, canoeing, caving, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding.
Trip participants vary by activity and location. Most trips are a mix of students with some staff and faculty. Most trips are designed to introduce beginners to an activity and require participants to be in good physical condition. Individuals interested in trips can sign up at the PCC Recreation Center located in the Student Recreation Center.
Interested in becoming an outdoor adventure trip guide or leader? Sign up for the Adventure Skills Practicum offered in the Spring, a training program that includes workshops and wilderness experiences. In addition to the activities, training includes first aid, wilderness medicine, outdoor leadership, trip planning, group facilitation, hazard assessment, team building, ethics and more.
