  • PCC to offer Safe Sitter training

Registered Safe Sitter Teaching Site - safesitter.org

Pueblo Community College is now a registered teaching site for the Safe Sitter program.

The Safe Sitter class shows students how to prevent injuries and handle emergencies when they are watching siblings, babysitting or at home alone. Participants learn first aid techniques, CPR and infant/child choking rescue. The program follows standards set by the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Students also learn about Internet and cellphone safety, how to prevent problem behavior and how to run their own babysitting business.

PCC will offer its first Safe Sitter training for students in grades 6-8 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 10. The class will be held in Room 109 of PCC’s Medical Arts and Technology building. Cost is $85; $25 is due at the time of registration.

Those who graduate from the class will receive a completion card that signifies they know how to use the course skills in real-life situations.

For information and to register, contact Ann Flores at 719-549-3477. Additional classes are planned for Feb. 7 and March 6.
