    Senior Mini College Dedication

    Dr. Shirley A. Squier, founder of PCC Senior Mini College, is being honored with the dedication of the 33rd Senior Mini College of 2018.

    Dr. Squier, a Canon City resident, has been an advocate of learning in education, for all ages, throughout her career. With an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the Flint Branch of the University of Michigan, Masters and Specialists degrees in Guidance Counseling from Central Michigan University and a Doctorate of Philosophy majoring in Community College Administration from Colorado State University at Fort Collins. Dr. Shirley worked in many different arenas of education. She began as a 5th grade teacher, middle school counselor, college counselor than the Director of Guidance at CCSS, and finally as a Director and administrator in higher education at PCC.     2018 Senior Mini College information will be available in the Canon City Shopper insert and on the PCC website beginning February 27. This is being done in an effort to conserve resources and reduce copying costs.   

    Registration for the 2018 Senior Mini College is March 1 - 16. No registrations will be accepted prior to March 1. Walk-in registration will be from 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. Students should bring a completed registration form to the Fremont Campus Office (the form is available in the Shopper insert or on the PCC website.) Telephone registration is also accepted from 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. Students will need to have selected their classes prior to doing a telephone registration. The phone registration number is 719-296-6125.

    Payment Information: Cost for Senior Mini College is $10 per day or $45 for the week.  There is no "per class" option. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card. 

    For the safety and comfort of all students, class sizes are limited. Classes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The Advisory Committee has worked to find a few larger presentation spaces, as well as ask presenters to repeat classes. PLEASE REMEMBER—you MAY NOT attend a class unless you have registered for it.

    Meet old friends and make new friends! Enjoy coffee and donuts in the morning before your class and during the morning break!  Bring your own brown bag lunch or order from the lunch selections.  A coat rack will be available.

    Refreshments: Canon Lodge Care Center will provide breakfast refreshments all week.

      General Resource Day:  Information tables from local businesses, organizations and service providers. You are encouraged to visit these tables between sessions and during lunch.
      Gregory Carlson will provide a classical guitar performance during lunch.

      Meet the Authors! Local authors will have tables set up in the Fremont Campus corridors. Come and meet these talented folks and support them! The Serendipity Dulcimer Players will perform during lunch.

    • Thursday, 3-22-18 
      Health Resource Day:  Visit the tables and booths of local organizations and businesses that cater to your health and wellness needs. There will be information about nutrition, fitness, wellness, etc. Enjoy a free lunch provided by St. Thomas More Hospital and Morrison (please RSVP for lunch by Monday, March 20).
