The Pueblo Early Childhood Council (formerly the Pueblo Consolidated Child Care Pilot) is one of 17 Colorado Community Consolidated Child Care Pilots established by the Colorado General Assembly in 1997 to help meet the need for full-day, full-year, quality early childhood care and education as a partner to welfare reform.
The Pueblo Early Childhood Council, comprising individuals, businesses and agencies in Pueblo County, recognizes that quality, comprehensive early childhood services for all children and their families prepares and supports children's success in school and throughout their lives. A compelling and still-growing body of scientific evidence leaves no room for doubt that what happens in the first few years of life is crucial to a child's development.
Membership in the Pueblo Early Childhood Council is open to any individual, business or agency at any time. The Council meets as a whole on a monthly basis and workgroups dedicated to seven focus areas (listed below) meet as needed to develop and coordinate Pueblo ECC projects.
- Professional Development
- Public Awareness and Engagement
- Mental Health
- Community Health
- Before & After School
- Infant & Toddlers
- Family Support
