Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC)

This course introduces the oil spill responsibilities mandated in 40 CFR 112.1 to 112.7.  It covers the basic training requirements for new and experienced operators and facility supervisors mandated by these regulations.

Objective

Students learn to identify facilities subject to the regulations, define features that help prevent and contain oil spills, identify requirements of an SPCC plan and other related training requirements.

Course Content

After completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Define the role of supervisors in spill prevention
  • Identify schedule requirements for creating, implementing, and amending SPCC plans
  • Define Oil Pollution Prevention training requirements for employers
  • Visually inspect storage tanks for common maintenance issues
