Requirements: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver's license, a high school diploma or GED, and may be required to take an assessment test (ACCUPLACER) to determine reading, writing, and arithmetic skills level.
Course Layout: The academic classes usually meet Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Skills classes are generally held on either Saturday or Sunday, depending on the availability of training venues. Completion of the 18 week curriculum will earn applicants thirty-seven college credits.
Program Cost: Tuition, college, fees, and material supplies will be approximately $4,884 for those students that have been a Colorado resident for more than one year and are eligible for funding through the College Opportunity Fund (COF). For non-residents, tuition will be determined on an individual basis. Applicants may also qualify for Federal Student Aid. Restrictions: Items that will keep students from enrolling in the academy: a bad driving record (DUI, suspension, reckless driving, etc.) in the past 3-5 years, certain misdemeanor convictions, a conviction of any felony or crime of moral turpitude, or low ACCUPLACER scores.
