101 - Introduction to the Personal Computer
Dates: February 10, 17, 24, March 2 and 9 (Five Fridays)
1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Room 123
Five 120 Minute Sessions
Cost: $59.00 includes materials
Course Description: This class provides the beginning computer user with hands-on experience in the use of the personal computer. This course introduces the basic features of and the terminology associated with personal computers. Topics include: What to look for when buying a new computer, operating system and file/folder management (Windows 7), eMail, spreadsheets (Excel 2010), the Internet (Internet Explorer), and word processing (Word 2010). Participants must have access to a home computer with Microsoft Office 2007 or higher. Special student discounts are available for students interested in purchasing MS Office 2010.
102 - Getting the Most Out of Your Laptop Computer
Dates: March 16 and 23 (Two Fridays)
1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in Learning Resource Center

Cost: $29.00 includes materials - Class is limited to 8 participants
Course Description: Have you recently purchased a new laptop computer or have a laptop computer that you have questions about? This class will answer your questions about what is installed on your laptop computer and what can be deleted to save valuable disk space. The class will teach you how to connect the laptop computer to a wireless Internet connection so you will know how to use it when traveling. The course will teach you how to check the system file system, how to delete programs and files and how to install and upgrade a free virus and spyware program. Internet and eMail will also be explored in this class. This class will go on a field trip to access a wireless in the local community.
103 – Introduction to MS Word 2007 and MS Excel 2007
Dates - April 13, 20, 27 (Three Fridays)
1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Room 123
Three 120 Minute Sessions
Cost: $39.00 includes materials
Course Description: Session 1 and 2 MS Word: Learn the basics of MS Word including how to create a Word document, modify text, add clip art, cut/paste text, open, close, and save documents.
Session 3 MS Excel: Learn the basics of using MS Excel featuring on how to use a spreadsheet for tasks like balancing a checkbook and creating your own worksheets with formulas. Class participants should know how to use a mouse and Windows. MS Office 2010 is recommended upon completion of the class.
