The PCC Mentoring Committee provides mentoring services for new faculty members. All new faculty at PCC are provided with a mentor for the first year of employment. The purpose of the mentoring program is to improve the quality and longevity of new faculty. A mentor is an experienced faculty member at PCC who has been through Mentor Training. The mentor is usually assigned from a discipline different from the new faculty member to provide for more diversity of experience and to minimize intra-departmental conflicts.

Many faculty members of PCC credit the mentoring program with increasing faculty effectiveness and improving longevity. Existing faculty members are encouraged to volunteer as mentors. The role of mentor can be very rewarding and gives existing faculty members opportunities to meet new faculty and introduce them to the rest of the college.
