Selecting an Internet Provider
1. Technical support: is support available 24 hours a day? Are there separate charges for support?
2. Set-up: is the software easy to install? Is there a local office or toll-free number to call?
3. Band width: how much traffic can be supported? Seek a 28.8 bps or higher baud rate.
4. Upgrades: has the provider kept up with technological advances?
5. Instruction: is the service desk available 24 hours a day? Toll free? Contact a user’s group or the local library for information on using available systems.
6. Future considerations: is this a provider that has a good reputation and will be around in the future? Do they provide advance warning of any scheduled off-line service breaks, etc?
7. Costs: is the service a one-package deal or does it allow you to mix services, paying only for those you want and will use? Is there a toll-free telephone number for support?
