Even if already enrolled at PCC, you need to register with the PCC Library.This will allow you to (a) check out materials and (b) access our databases off campus. There are three ways to become a registered borrower:
Access Databases From Your Home There are five databases available off campus:
EBSCOHost Full-text journals, newspapers, encyclopedias, children's magazines, ERIC, and business and health journals and pamphlets.
Britannica Online Full text encyclopedia with links to web sites for additional information. A very reliable source.
Annals of American History. This Britannica product provides extensive information on American history, government, and politics.
Grove's Dictionary of Art Articles on every aspect of the visual arts from prehistory to the present day, 21,000 biographies, and images from the Bridgeman Art Library.
netLibrary 14,000 digital books supporting all PCC curriculum areas. You must use an on-campus computer to create an account with NetLibrary before off-campus access is allowed.
How to access these databases:
Go to the PCC Library web page.Select LIBRARY ONLINE RESOURCES.
For periodicals select Periodicals then EBSCOHost (Use "Off-campus access")
For reference resources (general and specialized encyclopedias) select REFERENCE RESOURCES, then Encyclopedia Britannica or Grove's Dictionary of World Art, using the "Off-campus" link.
netLibrary (14,000 digital books) -- If you established an account with NetLibrary from an on-campus computer, you can check out these electronic books. The netLibrary collection may also be accessed from the PCC Online Catalog. If you are not a registered borrower you may read (but not check out) the digital book from your computer screen by clicking on the URL in the catalog record.
