Methods of Library Research

"Research" can be an intimidating word to many people but it shouldn't be! Research is simply identifying a subject, finding all the information you can about that subject, documenting your sources (giving credit) and then producing a product (speech, paper, video presentation, etc). The product should give your analysis, synthesis, or interpretation of the information you've found----don't regurgitate what's in your source material! You're taking various pieces of a puzzle, adapting and analyzing them, and producing a product. Someone else will take your "product", combine it with other sources, and produce THEIR product. Research builds on previous pieces of work….it is a process…..it is continual…

This is an informal site with different links designed to help you complete your PCC assignments and projects. It is impossible to cover all your research questions, and we hope you'll take the initiative to use your Library and its available resources (print, online, audio-visual, government documents, etc). If you need assistance or want to comment about this site, email the PCC Reference Librarian.
