Curriculum
The High Scope Curriculum is used at the Center to help prepare children for kindergarten. Children are exposed to both teacher-directed and child-directed, age-appropriate activities to stimulate learning and achievement of developmental milestones. Children are encouraged to try new things and experience success while learning independences and trust within an environment that respects diversity.

Children are exposed to the following learning centers each day:

  • Language Development
  • Music and Movement
  • Computer
  • Outdoor play
  • Blocks
  • Science
  • Art
  •  Manipulatives

The Center staff also plans field trips to expose children to the world around them. Some of the favorite places to go are the Lamb library and the Pueblo Zoo.

Staff Qualifications
The Children's Learning Center is proud to have a qualified staff. The Director, Assistant Director and staff are certified by the State of Colorado. The YWCA of Pueblo is a learning institution and encourages participation in progessional development opportunities.

Child Care Philosophy
We Believe:

  • Children learn best in an environment that respects their unique patterns of growth and development.
  • The environment must be physically and emotionally safe if children are to develop trust in their world.
  • Children enjoy and benefit from the company of others
  • Children desire independence and have a natural curiosity.
  • Children develop their ability by moving.
  • Children learn best through active experiences.

We Believe in families.
