Instructional Designers work independently and collaboratively with subject matter experts and staff to design, develop, and redesign innovative and engaging web-based courses and programs that reflect their institutions’ quality standards, ensuring that any full online or hybrid course developed meets the overall mission of the school.

They also provide expertise in the development of appropriate instructional pedagogies through interaction with instructors in both one-on-one sessions and via faculty development workshops, reviewing courses to ensure that instructors are using proper teaching techniques and providing support for making changes to courses.

When the opportunity arises, Instructional Designers may also develop and teach professional development workshops covering both technical and pedagogical issues to insure that instructors are trained on good instructional pedagogy.

Another area where they may exercise expertise is in the development of multimedia content for online courses, ensuring that courses are enhanced with quality media.
