You Have the Right to Know:
- What student financial aid programs are available.
- What priority dates have been established for each of the financial aid programs.
- How and when you will be paid.
- How your financial need is determined, including such items as tuition and fees, room and board, books/supplies, travel and personal expenses.
- What resources (parental contributions, outside assistance, etc.) are considered in the calculation of your financial need.
- How much of your financial need, as determined by the institution, has been met.
- What portion of the financial aid you received must be repaid (loans), and what portion is grant aid. When you borrow a student loan you have the right to know the interest rate, the total amount that must be repaid, the pay-back procedures, how long you have to repay the loan, and when repayment begins.
- The college's tuition and fee refund policy.
- How the school determines whether you are making satisfactory academic progress and what happens if you are not.
- The appeals process for satisfactory academic progress and other situations.
- What special facilities and services are available for disabled students.
- What college staff are available for information on financial aid programs and when they are available.
- The terms and conditions of any work-study employment including how and when you will be paid.

You Have the Responsibility to:
- Complete all application forms accurately and submit them on time to the Financial Aid Office.
- Enroll in an eligible academic program.
- Complete and return all documentation, verification, or correction of information requested by the Financial Aid Office.
- Read, understand, and accept responsibility for all forms that you are asked to sign and keep copies of them.
- Perform the work that is agreed upon in accepting a work-study position.
- Be aware of and comply with financial aid's satisfactory academic progress policy.
- Notify the Records Office of any changes in name or address.
- Notify the Financial Aid Office of any changes in financial status through welfare, social security, VA benefits, etc.
- Notify the Financial Aid Office before you withdraw from classes or change your enrollment status.
- Comply with all entrance and exit loan requirements, and repay any loan amount received while attending Pueblo Community College.
- Pay on time, all college charges not covered by financial aid.
The Financial Aid Office encourages you to be an active and informed consumer about issues relating to your education, safety and finances. This brochure is intended to provide you with valuable information regarding your rights and responsibilities either as a prospective student or currently enrolled student. This includes the right to request information about any subject area covered in any publication provided by Pueblo Community College.
The purpose of Pueblo Community College is to provide students with the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge necessary for personal development, job preparation, and a solid general education. Should you have any questions or want additional information regarding a specific topic, college staff are available during normal business hours, and some offices, including Financial Aid are open until 6 PM Monday through Thursday. Faculty are required to maintain a set number of office hours within which they are available, by appointment if necessary, to current and prospective students for academic advising.

Accreditation:
Pueblo Community College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. PCC is one of eleven schools governed by the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education. In addition, the college catalog, available upon request from the Admissions & Records Office, lists specific programs of study, and their applicable approval or accreditation from national and state level associations and agencies. The college catalog also contains information regarding facilities and services available to students as well as the educational credentials of faculty and staff.

Disability Services:
It is the intent of PCC to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. Some of the resources available include: adaptive equipment and instruction, tutoring and note taking, classroom aides and interpretation for the deaf. Students are encouraged to contact the Counselor for Vocational Services for additional information.

Security:
The Campus Security Act of 1990 stipulates that a college must provide information regarding campus security policies and campus crime statistics. The College publishes this information in a brochure that is provided to our PCC students. Additional copies are available from the Financial Aid Office and the Office of the Vice President for Student Services.
In addition, the Student Handbook published by the Student Services Division contains information describing the Student Code of Conduct and procedures for campus disciplinary actions. The handbook also describes the policies the college follows in response to crimes and the enforcement authority of campus security personnel. The College also has a number of counseling and referral services available for victims of crimes. The Student Handbook is available upon request at the Counseling and Career Services Office located in the College Center. The Student Handbook is also mailed periodically to students.

For Your Safety and Convenience:
Campus Security personnel are available 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, to assist students on campus. This includes escorting students to designated locations on campus, particularly during the evening hours when returning to your car or waiting for the bus. Weekend security is not traditionally available but should you need assistance contact the campus switchboard.
In each academic building and the College Center, there is at least one red phone for placing on-campus calls at no charge. These red phones can be used to reach the campus switchboard or Campus Security directly.

Student Right to Know
The Student Right to Know Act of 1990 and subsequent regulations require that information about the completion or graduation rates of certificate and degree-seeking, full-time students is available upon request from the Admissions and Records Office, located in the College Center. In addition, employment statistics and state licensing requirements for programs offered by Pueblo Community College are available upon request from the office of the Vice President for Technology & Trades. Please reference the report entitled "VE135".

Protecting Your Privacy
Pueblo Community College adheres to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) when maintaining your academic, disciplinary and other records. Information regarding your rights under FERPA should be directed to the Office of Admissions and Records.

Be advised that certain information is available to the public unless the student specifically requests in writing that it not be released.
This information is considered "Directory Information" and includes:
Name, Home Address, Home Phone Number, Major, Grade Level, Terms of Enrollment, Graduation and Honors.
- The Financial Aid Office reserves the right to require identification before releasing financial aid information. This may require an in-person visit.
- Information may also be disclosed to the parent of a dependent student, as defined by the Internal Revenue Service as opposed to the definition of a dependent student by the Department of Education.
