COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Provides students with a vehicle to pursue in depth exploration of special topics of interest.

5.

COURSE GOAL:

After successfully completing this tour, the student will have an in-depth knowledge of the tourism structure, history, culture, and tourism sites of the area visited.

6.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

(A) To provide the student an opportunity to experience a tourism attraction, city, or foreign country first hand.
(B) To allow the student to plan the itinerary, figure costs, and implement an individualized tour.

7.

EVALUATION PROCEDURES:

Student will prepare a written description of the tour including itinerary, sites to visit, and   hotels booked.  A complete costing of the tour will be included. The tour will then be taken. These activities will constitute 60% of the grade.
Daily diary and reflection at the conclusion of the tour will make up the other 40% of the grade.

Special Remarks:

Student will plan the modes of transportation for the itinerary, pace and cost the trip, evaluate possible tourism sites for inclusion, and implement the tour.  While on the tour, student will keep a daily diary of activities, noting problems as well as successes of the trip.  This will be turned in to instructor along with a reflection of the trip, including suggestions for changes to improve the next tour experience.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:

The very nature of higher education requires that students adhere to accepted standards of academic integrity. Therefore, Pueblo Community College has adopted a policy of academic conduct as described in the Student Handbook. Violation of academic integrity may be defined to include the following: cheating, plagiarism, falsification and fabrication, abuse of academic materials, complicity in academic dishonesty, and personal misrepresentation. It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of the behaviors that constitute academic dishonesty. Sanctions for violating the standards of academic integrity may include warning, probation, suspension, and/or failure of the course or assignment at the discretion of the instructor.
