SCANS Competencies |
The SCANS (The Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills) has been developed in cooperation with industry and Goals 2000 to provide education with a list of desired skills to aid students to make the transition from school to work. These skills are distributed throughout the classes being offered in the Engineering Program. Below is list of items specifically addressed by this course. |
Resources |
Allocates Time – Students are expected to complete assignments on time. |
Allocates Human Resources – Manage personal affairs in order to be in class and ready to learn. |
Information |
Acquires and Evaluates Information – take notes, read text and other material in order to be better prepared to complete class assignments. |
Organizes and Maintains Information – students are expected to write down their questions as they Study and to attempt to locate they own answers using their notes and text material. |
Interprets and Communicates Information – students are expected to read and interpret engineering data, then communicate that information clearly and neatly in a drawing using CAD. |
Interpersonal |
Participate as a team member - cooperate with other students to support cooperative leaning during lab times. |
Systems |
Understands Systems – understand how CAD systems, specifically AutoCAD operates and works. |
Monitors and Corrects Performance – students correct their own mistakes. |
Technology |
Applies Technology to the task – Using computers, and computer software, students will complete drawing assignments. |
