COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Focuses on business process foundations and a preliminary look at the opportunities and challenges that implementers of e-commerce tools encounter.

COURSE GOAL:

6. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, students will
  1. Know the make-up and strategies of a globally competitive business environment.
  2. Know how value is created in various e-commerce applications and solutions.
  3. Describe in detail the business process and models for the financial services, manufacturing and telecommunications industries.
  4. Define how e-commerce applications increase the revenue channels and decrease the transaction costs and prices of products.
  5.  Define how e-commerce companies are information to determine return on investment (ROI).
  6.  Define an online trading community, a trading hub and how they create ROI
  7.  Define the Trading Hub ROI fro buyers and sellers based on a tier program.
  8.  Define how an e-commerce procurement (buyer) application contributes to ROI.
  9.  Define how an e-commerce supplier (seller) application contributes to ROI.

Special Remarks:

1.

Attendance:  College policy states that students may be dropped from enrollment when absent 20% of the scheduled class meetings.  If enrolled from the beginning of the term, 15 hours will usually constitute 20% of a four-credit semester course that meets five hours per week.  Reinstatement procedures are described in the PCC catalog.

2.

Tardy Policy:  A student who is late three times (enters classroom after the instructor has taken roll) will be charged with one full absence unless the student can provide valid reasons for one or more of these tardies.

3.

Assignments/Missed Exams:  It is the student's responsibility, whether present or absent, to obtain all material presented and to complete all course assignments.  If prior arrangements are made or extenuating circumstances exist, makeup of tests may be allowed.  Late homework papers will not be accepted unless those same extenuating circumstances exist.  Makeup of quizzes is to be at the instructor's discretion.

  7.   Manufacturing: History, traditional communications and bookkeeping
  8.   Manufacturing: Economics, value chain and business process reengineering
  9.  Manufacturing: B2B models, advertising and marketing, leads management,    purchasing, sales and order processes
  10.  Telecommunications: history and regulatory climate

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:

To be successful in this course, students are expected to participate in discussions, readings, in-class writing, and peer review activities. The instructor may assign point values to such activities.

The very nature of higher education requires that students adhere to accepted standards of academic integrity.
