4. COURSE DESCRIPTION: |
A multi-planar sectional anatomy course with co-relative MRI and CT images. This course is designed for both post-graduate imaging professionals and radiologic technology students who want to enhance knowledge and skills. |
|
5. COURSE GOAL: |
The student will be able to identify normal anatomy, anatomic variants, and selected pathologies in orthogonal trans-axial, sagittal, and coronal planes through the study of line drawings, plasticized cadavarous sections, and related MR and CT images. This course is designed to develop, in the student, a working knowledge of anatomy and pathologies encountered in sectional imaging modalities such as MRI and CT. |
|
6. COURSE OBJECTIVE:
At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:
A. Identify normal anatomy as demonstrated on line drawings and plasticized cadavarous sections in trans-axial planes
B. Identify normal anatomy as demonstrated on selected co-relative MR and CT images in trans-axial, sagittal, and coronal planes
C. Identify anatomic variants as demonstrated on selected co-relative MR and CT images in trans-axial, sagittal, and coronal planes.
D. Identify and discuss selected pertinent pathologic conditions as demonstrated on selected co-relative MR and CT images in trans-axial, sagittal, and coronal planes.
|
|
7. EVALUATION PROCEDURES:
The student will be evaluated on 6 exams (60% of the grade), weekly online participation assignments (10%) and homework assignments (30%). These scores will be averaged, and the final grade will be given according to the raw score range.

9. METHODS OF INSTRUCTION: To be successful in this course, students are expected to participate in discussions, readings, in-class writing, and peer review activities. The instructor may assign point values to such activities. |
