4. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Provides opportunity to learn and apply specific wellness principles to your individual lifestyle. Student completes self-analysis of health behaviors and how lifestyle affects health status.

 

5. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

I.                   Demonstrate understanding of the principles of health and wellness.

II.                Demonstrate awareness of health/wellness principles and how they affect mind, emotions, spirit.

III.             Develop and implement a personal plan for promotion of lifestyle changes toward improved health and wellness.

IV.              Design and implement a personal record keeping system to track and evaluate personal growth toward health/wellness issues.

 

6. EVALUATION PROCEDURES:

          Final grade for this course will be determined by a combination of exams, quizzes, projects and homework assignments. 

 

          GRADING SCALE:

       All Health Professions certificate and degree programs use the following grading scale:

                                                     93 - 100%  = A

                                                     85 -  92%  = B

                                                     77 -  84%  = C

                                                     69 -  76%  = D

                                                       0 -  68%  = F

 

Special Remarks: 

  1. Attendance: College policy states that students may be dropped from enrollment when absent 20% of the scheduled class meetings. Reinstatement procedures are described in the PCC catalog.
  2. Students should refer to the Massage Therapy Student Handbook for details regarding attendance, tardy and make-up policies for MST curriculum courses.

·        Exercises and Stretches for Massage Therapists

·        (re-)Designing Your Life and Work to Prevent Injury

Note: Content areas covered and class schedule is subject to change at the instructor's discretion.

 

8. METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:

To be successful in this course, students are expected to participate in

·        Class activities (which may include exercise &/or off-campus excursions)

·        Class discussions

·        In-class reading and writing assignments

·        Fitness, wellness  and self-care activities

·        Complete homework and self-assessment worksheets    

Students are required to bring all learning materials, supplies and appropriate clothing to every class meeting.

 

9. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:

 

The very nature of higher education requires that students adhere to accepted standards of academic integrity.
