COURSE DESCRIPTION: |
Prepares the student in theory and in practical skills in the field of phlebotomy. Recommended for either the healthcare practitioner who is interested in updating skills or in the novice student who id developing career skills. Students learn skills in obtaining blood samples through capillary draws, venipuncture, and through collection processes onto slides. Use of a variety of on-site testing equipment is introduced, and procurement of samples for accurate laboratory testing is stressed. Universal Blood and Body Fluid Precautions, as related to OSHA is taught and practiced with attention to absolute compliance practice. This course is delivered through both lecture/laboratory methods with attention to application to theory in a clinical setting in order to master tactile skills |
