1. TITLE OF COURSE: Clinical Practice of Dental Hygiene 1-A
PREFIX/NUMBER: DEH 171 CREDIT HOURS: 1 - 8
2. PREREQUISITES: Current Enrollment in Dental Hygiene Program
3. RESOURCES NEEDED:
TEXT: ADA Chairside Instructor Booklet, American Dental Association.
SUPPLIES: All instruments and equipment in the standard clinic issue available and in good condition. PCC – Clinic Manual, PCC – Proficiency Sheets.
4. COURSE
DESCRIPTION: Continues patient care sessions for the performance of traditional dental hygiene treatment. Enables the student to provide treatment to periodontally involved patients utilizing advanced instrumentation and power scaling.
4. COURSE GOAL: To provide the dental hygiene student with additional supervised patient care sessions, with increased emphasis on treatment planning, identification of factors involved in the progress and treatment of periodontal disease, the use of the ultrasonic scaling device, the development of definitive debridement skills, and the increased opportunity to treat patients with more advanced periodontal disease involvement.

first class.

Special Remarks:
Attendance: Attendance is mandatory for all clinics. If a patient is not available for the clinic
session, the student is still required to attend clinic and report in with
the assigned clinical faculty. Attendance policies are outlined in the Program
Handbook. Missed clinic days can not be made up.
Academic Integrity:
