Paramedic Program

The 4-semester Paramedic certificate will prepare you for the National Registry Paramedic Exam and to be a confident Team Leader & practitioner.  The need for highly trained paramedics has never been greater and is expected to continue to grow.

Paramedic Program
The curriculum consists of classroom instruction, skills laboratory, in-hospital clinical practice, and a supervised field internship. Upon graduation you will also have PHTLS, ACLS, and PALS certification. We understand that finding employment is highly competitive. We give you the tools and knowledge to be on the cutting edge.

Prerequisite to this program is successful completion of EMT-Basic or EMT-Intermediate, pre-screening examination, successful completion of Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II, and personal interview. This is a comprehensive course study in advanced emergency medical care. Theoretical and clinical instruction in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology shock, respiratory emergencies, cardiac emergencies, trauma, pediatrics, geriatrics, and other topics specific to DOT guidelines.

Our course consists of a minimum of 372 hours didactic, 172 hours clinical, and 500 hours ambulance internship. This will give you the confidence to function as a lead medic in the prehospital setting, or to function as an important member of the hospital emergency team.

You will be evaluated on your cognitive ability, psychomotor profile (including skills and physical ability), and affective qualities & behavior characteristics, throughout the program. You must be successful in all three domains of learning to be eligible for graduation. It should be noted that completion of the Paramedic program does not guarantee state and national certification to practice as a paramedic. Paramedics must pass appropriate certification exams to practice as a paramedic.
