You've completed your EMT-Basic class. Now it's time to get out on the streets!
EMS 180-171 offers students who have successfully completed an Colorado EMT-Basic course opportunities to ride with experienced EMTs. Here's a chance to see what EMS is really like, to reinforce skills learned in class and to gain needed experience before advancing to EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic.
Each student will act as a “third rider” with a licensed ambulance company under supervision of an experienced EMT-Basic preceptor. The student will have the opportunity to observe and participate in actual patient assessment and treatment.
Each student will ride 8 12-hour shifts, but not more than two shifts/week.
This is an open-entry/open-exit class. There will be an orientation meeting before actually starting the internship.
