This course is designed primarily for EMT-Intermediates who are now being asked to interpret 12-lead ECG's, but anyone with an interest in 12-lead interpretation is encouraged to attend.
At the end of this course, participants should be able to recognize the ECG findings associated with acute myocardial infarction and rule out “look-alikes” that will not meet STEMI activation criteria.
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to 12-lead electrocardiograph interpretation, including:
-
Review of normal electrical conduction in the heart.
-
Review of normal and abnormal rhythms
-
Correct methods of obtaining a 12-lead ECG
-
Evaluation of axis, transition, amplitude, bundle branch blocks and hemi-blocks
-
Diagnosis and localization of myocardial ischemia, injury and infarct
-
Other common 12-lead abnormalities
Although there will be some discussion of treatment, the emphasis of the course will be on the interpretation.
