COURSE SYLLABUS 1. TITLE OF COURSE: MOVEABLE GLASS AND HARDWARE PREFIX/NUMBER: ACT 221 CREDIT HOURS: 2 CR. (1L/1.5 LBV) 2. PREREQUISITE: 3. RESOURCES NEEDED: TEXT: SUPPLIES: 1 spiral notebook, 3 no.2 pencils, 1 clipboard, work shoes, and basic hand tools 4. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Covers door glass, vent windows and glass mechanisms (both electric and mechanical) with emphasis on removal and replacement. In addition, interior trim panels, seats and headliners are removed and replaced. Student learns proper care and treatment of vehicle seat protectors plus the proper use of tools required to perform these tasks. 5. COURSE GOAL: To perform safely specific skills identified that are necessary for the replacement of glass, all glass hardware, and interior trim. 6. COURSE OBJECTIVES: After completion of this course, the student should be able to: (A) Inspect, adjust, repair or replace window regulators, run channels, glass, power mechanisms, and related controls. (B) Diagnose and repair water leaks, dust leaks, and wind noise; inspect, repair, and replace weather-stripping. (C) Inspect, repair or replace, and adjust removable, manually or power operated roof panels and hinges, latches, guides, handles, retainer, and controls of sunroofs. (D) Inspect, remove, reinstall, and align convertible top and related mechanisms. 7. EVALUATION PROCEDURES: Each student enrolled in the Automotive Collision program will be graded as follows: Lab skills attitude 1. Lab work consists of: (A) speed (B) accuracy (C) neatness and order (D) care of tools (E) attitude: student work habits, promptness, good attendance, project decision making. The ability to work without constant instruction. Responsibility to any given project or assignment. Laboratory projects will be evaluated on a weekly basis. lab skills 60% written assignments 20% written tests and quizzes 20% Each hour of absence constitutes a deduction of one point from the total final grade. Tardiness will be counted in 15-minute increments. The student will be dropped when he/she misses over 12 hours. Regular attendance and class participation are of great importance for success in this Automotive Collision course. College attendance policy states that you may be dropped for absence of more than 20% of the scheduled class (12 hours). 2. No make up time will be allowed without prior approval from the instructor. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule any make up time needed. Students are expected to spend at least 1 to 2 hours of study time outside of class for each hour you are scheduled in class. 3.
