COURSE SYLLABUS 1. TITLE OF COURSE: SPRAY EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS PREFIX/NUMBER: ACT 143 CREDIT HOURS: 2 CR. (1L/1.5 LBV) 2. PREREQUISITE: None 3. RESOURCES NEEDED: TEXT: As required SUPPLIES: As required 4. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Covers the inspection, cleaning and determination of the condition of spray guns and related equipment. Students learn skills for adjusting spray guns by setting-up and testing spray gun operations. 5. COURSE GOAL: 6. COURSE OBJECTIVES: By the end of the course, students will: (A) Inspect, clean, and determine condition of spray guns and related equipment (air hoses, regulators, air lines, air source, and spray environment). (B) Check and adjust spray gun operation for HLVP (high volume, low pressure) or LVLP (low volume, low pressure) guns. (C) Set-up (fluid needle, nozzle, and cap), adjust, and test spray gun using fluid, air and pattern control valves. 7. EVALUATION PROCEDURES: Each student enrolled in the Automotive Collision program will be graded as follows: Lab skills attitude 1. Lab work consists of: (A) speed (B) accuracy (C) neatness and order (D) care of tools (E) attitude: student work habits, promptness, good attendance, project decision making. The ability to work without constant instruction. Responsibility to any given project or assignment. Laboratory projects will be evaluated on a weekly basis. lab skills 60% written assignments 20% written tests and quizzes 20% Each hour of absence constitutes a deduction of one point from the total final grade. Tardiness will be counted in 15-minute increments. The student will be dropped when he/she misses over 12 hours. Attendance: College policy states that students may be dropped from enrollment when absent 20% of the scheduled class meetings. If enrolled from the beginning of the term, 15 hours will usually constitute 20% of a four-credit semester course which meets five hours per week. Reinstatement procedures are described in the PCC catalog. 2. Tardy Policy: A student who is late three times (enters classroom after the instructor has taken roll) will be charged with one full absence unless the student can provide valid reasons for one or more of these tardies. 3. Assignments/Missed Exams: It is the student's responsibility, whether present or absent, to obtain all material presented and to complete all course assignments. If prior arrangements are made or extenuating circumstances exist, makeup of tests may be allowed. Late homework papers will not be accepted unless those same extenuating circumstances exist. Environmental Protection 9. METHODS OF INSTRUCTION: To be successful in this course, students are expected to participate in discussions, readings, in-class writing, and peer review activities. The instructor may assign point values to such activities. 10. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY: The very nature of higher education requires that students adhere to accepted standards of academic integrity.
