Mailability Point Scale

8 pts. =  mailable with no errors
7 pts. =  mailable with 1-2 mailable errors (slight errors)
6 pts. =  mailable with 3-4 mailable errors
5 pts. =  mailable with 5-6 mailable errors
4 pts. =  mailable with 7-8 mailable errors or any nonmailable errors
0 pts. =  no homework handed in or test not taken.

*Slight errors include minor placement errors, etc.  As long as a student attempts each job, a minimum of 50 percent of the possible points will be earned.  Tests not taken or homework not submitted will result in zero points.

______________________________________________________________________________

  A. Homework . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  . . . . . . . . . . 15 percent of final grade

Lessons 21-40 will be covered; these lessons contain production jobs.  Homework jobs will be graded at random and if necessary, the instructor may request the homework job be redone.

Two hours of MAP cycles will be required.  These are speed and accuracy drills.

  B. Timed Writings  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  40 percent of final grade

Three-minute timed writings of 1.5 syllabic intensity or less must have three or fewer errors to qualify.  Students must submit a minimum of 3 three-minute timed timings.

To obtain a student's grade for timed writings, the following procedure is used:

Average the three highest speeds attained with no more than three errors for three-minutes.  If three timings within the error limit are not attained, zeroes are averaged in.  The average score is then converted to a percent as follows:

A

B

C

D

F

50 wpm = 100% 39 wpm = 88% 34  wpm = 79% 24 wpm = 68% 19 wpm = 58%

  C. Production Tests     . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  30 percent of final grade

A minimum of three production tests will be given.  Production tests and production jobs will be graded for mailability.  See mailability chart above.  Points will be turned into a percentage grade.

  D. Objective Tests . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  15 percent of final grade
