4. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Focuses on the growth and development of the individual, from conception through childhood, emphasizing physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial factors.
5. COURSE GOAL:
The student will learn theories and research of early childhood development and the role of adults in facilitating this development.
6. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
I. Identify the biological factors associated with prenatal development.
II. Evaluate the environmental factors associated with prenatal development.
III. List and explain the physical factors associated with infancy and childhood.
IV. Compare and contrast the cognitive factors associated with infancy and childhood.
V. Discuss the emotional factors associated with infancy and childhood.
VI. Identify and discuss the psychosocial factors associated with infancy and childhood.

8. METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:
To be successful in this course, students are expected to participate in discussions, readings, in-class writing, and peer review activities. The instructor may assign point values to such activities.
9. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:
