4.         COURSE DESCRIPTION:

            Examines gender comparisons in work, courtship, family life, and sexual behavior throughout the life span.

 

5.         COURSE GOAL:

            Students will explore the emotional, cognitive, interpersonal, and cultural contributions to female identity and gender role.  Gender differences in work, courtship, family life, and sexual behavior through out the live span will be examined.

 

6.         COURSE OBJECTIVES:

            I.          Distinguish and contrast various historical/political aspects of gender.

            II.         Understand research methods used in the study of gender.

            III.       Recognize and evaluate biological influences on the individual as pertaining to gender.

            IV.       Examine and evaluate influences of gender on the developmental processes.

            V.        Assess the relationship between social systems and gender.

            VI.       Compare and contrast various cultural views of gender.

            VII.      Examine gender comparisons related to cognitive, social, and psychological domains.

            VIII.     Write and speak clearly and logically in presentations and essays.

            IX.       Demonstrate the ability to select and apply contemporary forms of technology to solve problems or compile information.

            X.        Read, analyze, and apply written materials to new situations.

8.         METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:

            To be successful in this course, students are expected to participate in discussions, readings, in-class writing, and peer review activities. The instructor may assign point values to such activities.

 

9.         ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:
