The mission of the Reading Department at Pueblo Community College is to improve literacy skills, self-management, and cultural awareness among a diverse student population. Through our commitment to excellence in the teaching and learning process, we build the prerequisite skills that enable students to participate more fully as individuals, family members, and citizens.

REA courses are designed to improve vocabulary, comprehension, and reading rate so that students can learn more efficiently and effectively in their college courses.

Advancing Academic Achievement
AAA courses are designed to help new and returning students make a more effective transition to college. Students review study skills and develop responsibility, motivation, and personal management skills. Success strategies and critical thinking skills are emphasized.

American Sign Language
ASL courses are designed to develop comprehension and expressive skills of American Sign Language (ASL) and to provide an overview of the history, values, and social norms of the deaf culture.
Individuals who wish to pursue a career as a sign language interpreter are encouraged to contact the Pikes Peak Community College Interpreter Preparation Program.
