Early Childhood Experiences in Language Arts

COURSE GOAL:

To familiarize students in understanding the different approaches to cognitive development in young children from birth through age eight.

5.   COURSE DESCRIPTION:   Examines theories of cognitive and language development as a framework for conceptualizing the way children acquire thinking skills.  Includes observing, planning, facilitating, creative representation, and evaluating strategies within the context of play.  Focuses on language, science, math, problem solving and logical thinking.  Addresses ages birth through age 8.

9. METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:
  To be successful in this course, students are expected to participate in discussions, readings, in-class writing, and peer review activities. The instructor may assign point values to such activities.
10. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:
  The very nature of higher education requires that students adhere to accepted standards of academic integrity.
