A growing body of research supports the value of high-quality early childhood programs and services for children’s later success in school and in life. Be a part of that success!

You will experience education and training in working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children, children with special needs, and child care center administrators.

Early Childhood Education is a department within the Arts and Sciences division.  The department has two full-time faculty members who are happy to meet with you in person or answer your questions by telephone or email. You may  contact either faculty member directly:

Students entering this program should show an interest in the care and well-being of young children. Student also need to be free from evidence of illness and conduct that would endanger the health, safety or well-being of children, as stated in the Colorado Department of Human Services Rules Regulating Child Care Centers, sec. 7.702.51.

Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in Early Childhood Education courses in order to progress through the program.

 

 

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Early Childhood Education is designed for students who plan to pursue an early childhood career. This program emphasizes the early childhood education courses (ECE) that are related to specific early childhood job skills.  Students entering this program should show an interest in the care and well-being of young children. Students also need to be free from evidence of illness and conduct that would endanger the health, safety or well-being of children, as stated in the Colorado Department of Human Services Rules Regulating Child Care Centers, sec. 7.702.51.

Students who complete 12 semester credits are eligible to work towards a group leader certificate.  Students who desire director qualifications need 24 credits in specific courses identified by the Colorado Department of Human Services, Child Care Division
