COURSE SYLLABUS

1. TITLE OF COURSE: Theatre Production III
PREFIX/NUMBER: THE 231 CREDIT HOURS: 3
2. PREREQUISITE:

THE 111 and/or THE 112 or permission of instructor.  This course allows students to put into practice theories of theatre production.  Participation in set construction, scenic artistry, costuming, lighting, sound, acting, stage managing, and administration is available.

COURSE GOAL:

6. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
(A) To learn the basic skills and techniques of play production.
(B) To develop an appreciation for the practice and art of play production.
(C)

To participate in one or more of the following aspects of play production: set construction, scene design, costuming, lighting, sound, acting, stage managing, and administration.

(D) To develop a disciplined and professional attitude towards theatre production.
(E) To develop a holistic approach to play production.
7. EVALUATION PROCEDURES:
Students will be required to:
1. Audition for semester play production and accept whatever role or duties are assigned to you.
2. Sign up and work at least one technical crew as production allows, minimum seven hours. 
3. Arrive promptly for all rehearsal calls and performances.
4. Develop and work an individual play production project. (optional)
Project 10 pts
Tech Crew 30 pts
Acting 30 pts
Attendance 30 pts
If you do not act in a role, your technical assistance will count for 60 pts.

Special Remarks:

1.

Attendance:  Students will be dropped when they have missed 20% of total class hours unless arrangements have been made.  Tardiness may result in Attendance grade drop.

2.

5 points per occasion.

As this is a play production class, your attitude towards your work and towards others will be assessed and evaluated as part of your attendance grade.

9. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:
The very nature of higher education requires that students adhere to accepted standards of academic integrity.
