One of the oldest and time-honored trades is that of the craftsman-jeweler who has the ability to create and repair beautiful pieces of jewelry. With the current projections that the service industry is the fastest growing segment of the economy today, it is important to note that the jewelry repair and design trade has been first and foremost a service field, and as such, it is as contemporary in today's marketplace as it was 200 years ago. The Jewelry Repair and Design courses are transfer electives under the studio art program..

The courses emphasizes a hands-on approach to jewelry repair and design by focusing on the methods, procedures, and craftsmanship in the creation and repair issues of fine art jewelry. This is a study that provides the student with  foundation skills and information needed to complete jewelry design tasks.
