  Hybrid Classes - Getting Started

CD-ROM

If you are enrolled in a PCC Hybrid course, follow the steps below to prepare for your course. Make sure you know which type of Hybrid course you are taking by identifying the section number of the course. You can then click on the quick links below to jump to the instructions for that course type.

Hybrid Courses (0HW)

These courses are offered in the classroom with an online component.  The online component is used to reduce the amount of time required in the classroom.  The amount of reduced in-classroom time will be determined by the individual instructors.                                                    

If you have enrolled in a Hybrid please follow the steps below to prepare for the first day of classes.

  1. Purchase your text books from a PCC campus bookstore or the PCC online bookstore at: http://bookstore.pueblocc.edu/wm_home.htm
     
  2. Review the WebCT Vista Student Orientation at:
    http://www.ccconline.org/support/vista/
     
  3. Check your class schedule for the starting date of the course. The Hybrid class schedule is listed on the menu on the left.  These classes also meet in the classroom
     
  4. Know what your PCC student ID number and your PCC PIN number are.  If you don't know them you can get help at the PCC Admissions office or by calling 719-549-3010.
     
  5. Login to your course. You can access your courses on the first day of class after 12 noon. Click on "Login to Courses" above to access the Login portal

Hybrid Media Courses (0HM)   

Lectures for these courses are provided on computer CD or DVD media.  A weekly lab is required and the courses also involve additional online components. Students who register in any of these courses must be able to  come to one of the campus locations weekly to check out the lecture media and/or participate  in lab sessions.  Lecture media can be checked out in the Library at the Pueblo and Fremont Campuses, or at the Southwest Center offices.

If you have enrolled in a Hybrid Media Course please follow the steps below to prepare for the first day of classes.

  1. Purchase your text books from a PCC campus bookstore or the PCC online bookstore at: http://bookstore.pueblocc.edu/wm_home.htm

  6. Take your syllabus, PCC student ID, and drivers license to the library and register for the checking out of materials.  KNOW WHAT MATERIALS YOU NEED for class, by checking class schedule of required media viewing.  Check out media and review for the first day of class.

 Library Rules for Checked out Materials:

  • A student can check out up to 10 items at a week.

  • Materials can be checked out for one week at a time.

  • If you need to renew your checked out materials call in before they are overdue and the renewal process can be handled over the phone

  • If materials are overdue ALL materials must be brought back in to do the whole checkout process again

If you do not have access to a DVD player, there is equipment available in the Pueblo Community College Library that is for students' use during really library operating hours.

Video CD Play instructions and Computer Requirements

PCC COMPUTERS:

Computers on campus meet the requirements for playing the video CD's.  Skip down to the CD Play Instructions below. 

HOME COMPUTERS:

Personal Computers must meet the minimum required specifications in order for VCD’s to play correctly.  Compatibility is not guaranteed with all PCs.   

CD Play Instructions:
Note: The CD video player requires a large amount of PC resources.  It is recommended that you close all running applications before inserting the auto play disk.

  1. Insert the CD into your computers CD-ROM drive.
  2. Your PC will (should) start the player. It may take up to 30 seconds for the disk to auto play.
  3. If the CD does not start playing follow the steps below:
    1. Double left mouse click on “my computer”
    2. Double left mouse click on the CD-ROM drive to open it.
    3. Double left mouse click the “playwnd.exe” icon.  This should start the auto player.
  4. A large video window will appear and a smaller play control window will appear.
