NURSING FACULTY

 

ABOUT PUEBLO COMMUNITY COLLEGE:  This two-year community college is located in a quiet residential area in the southwestern section of the city.  Program offerings include vocational training and transfer programs for community college students.  College students may earn a one-year certificate or two-year degree.  Other campus locations:  Southwest Center, Durango, CO and Fremont Campus, Canon City, CO.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Under the supervision of the Department Chairperson, this position serves as faculty in the Nursing Department.  Duties include providing instruction in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines; maintaining required program standards for the Nursing Department which includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings; assisting in curriculum development and evaluation; preparing course content and course materials and integrating technology as appropriate; maintaining a safe program-related environment; contributing to the enhancement of  the learning experience for a diverse student population with special learning needs; assisting students with admission procedures, counseling, advising, orientation, registration, contracts progression completion, and graduation requirements; assisting in scheduling pre-and-post laboratory hours to demonstrate techniques; assisting students in practice and perform “check-offs” as assigned skills and knowledge; providing the nursing programs with assistance in inventory control and the ordering  of clinical and laboratory supplies; participating in regional reports, activities, committees, assignments, program promotional activities, and regional/national self-studies/program reviews; and working with other program faculty.  Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum:  Master of Science in Nursing or currently enrolled, with satisfactory progress, in a regionally accredited Master of Science Nursing program; current license to practice Nursing in the State of Colorado; three years occupational experience in pediatrics, obstetrics, or medical-surgical nursing; must possess or be eligible for Colorado Vocational Credential which requires completion of the CCCS approved Career and Technical Teacher Induction Program; commitment to working with a diverse population; willingness to attend required meetings, training sessions, or other related functions; willingness to work as a team member; good written and oral communication skills; and active participation in community programs including civic, charity, or professional organizations.

Preferred:  Teaching experience in higher education.

 

Necessary Special Requirement:  Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screening and background check.

 

All degrees must be earned from a regionally accredited institution.

Starting Salary Range:  $35,000-$51,000 - Dependent upon position, experience, education, and funding.
