Department/Division Purpose:

The Consortium for Healthcare Education Online (CHEO) at Pueblo Community College, a federally funded United States Department of Labor Trades Adjustment Assistance for Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) program, functions solely to support the activities outlined in the CHEO Program proposal selected for funding. Seven other colleges join PCC:  Kodiak College, AK; Otero Junior College, CO; Red Rocks Community College, CO; Montana State University-Great Falls College of Technology, MT; Flathead Valley Community College, MT, Lake Area Technical Institute, South Dakota; and Laramie County Community College, WY. This project will serve counties identified in the States of Alaska, Colorado, Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming. CHEO’s institutional partners will develop or transition identified allied healthcare courses and programs into hybrid and/or online formats. These programs—some of which will be new and others currently provided in the face-to-face format only—will offer students the opportunity to acquire stackable certificates, allowing them to make progress in their profession as working adults while pursuing academic credentials. Additionally, many of the courses in these programs lattice so that students can more easily change their area of focus to a different allied health program and be able to apply their prior learning. As appropriate, CHEO partners will develop new lab exercises using the North American Network of Science Labs Online (NANSLO) labs to provide their students with the opportunity to conduct science experiments online. The following certificate and degree credentials will be developed and awarded by members of the consortium: Polysomnography, Emergency Medical Services (EMT-basic, intermediate EMT and advanced EMT), Health Information Technology, Occupation Endorsement Certificate, Medical Office Support, Medical Lab Technology, Nurse Aide, Home Health Care, Hospice Care, Medication Aide, Health Care Core, Pre Nursing, Paramedicine, Radiation Technology, Medical Lab Technician, Practical Nursing , Nurse Aide Certificate Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and AAS degrees. Targeted populations of students include TAA eligible workers, returning veterans and older adults.

This position specifically exists to oversee allied health program (Polysomnography, Emergency Medical Technician, and Health Information Technology) courses  to online/hybrid format, including logistics and academic oversight; will oversee NANSLO coordination logistics and academic oversight and development, participate in professional development activities; coordinate strategies for distance/hybrid/online learning best practices on campus; develops new allied health curriculum for Pueblo Community College.

Essential Functions:

Work independently and collaboratively with subject matter experts and staff to design, develop, and redesign innovative and engaging web-based courses and programs that reflect PCC’s quality standards, ensuring that PCC full online and hybrid courses meet the PCC quality assurance standards.

Provide expertise in the development of appropriate instructional pedagogies through interaction with instructors in both one-on-one sessions and via faculty development workshops, reviewing courses to ensure that instructors are using proper teaching techniques and providing support for making changes to courses.

Develop and teach professional development workshops covering both technical and pedagogical issues to insure that instructors are trained on good instructional pedagogy.

15%

Develop multimedia content for online courses, ensuring that courses are enhanced with quality media.

10%

Provide expertise in the development and maintenance of effective instructional design models for allied health professions at PCC.

5%

Collaborate with the PCC Virtual Campus staff to develop instructional design models for use in PCC online, hybrid and web enhanced courses.

Help troubleshoot issues reported by instructors and staff, working to problem resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, curriculum and assessment, or related field.

ALL DEGREES MUST BE EARNED FROM A REGIONALLY ACCREDITED INSTITUTION

Experience:

·         At least one-year experience teaching; experience working with subject matter experts in developing online courses; experience working with and developing multimedia and online applications;

Special knowledge, skills, abilities:

·         Demonstrated working knowledge of Desire2Learn or other online systems

·         Demonstrated ability utilizing Microsoft Office, Dreamweaver or other equivalent web-design software, Adobe Photoshop, or equivalent

·         Demonstrated ability with HTML and Cascading Style Sheets.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, curriculum and assessment, or related field.

Experience:

·        More than one-year experience teaching in a post-secondary setting

·        At least one-year experience working with allied health subject matter experts in developing online courses

·        Experience working with and developing multimedia and online applications for allied health applications

·        Experience with Macromedia Flash applications

·        Experience with Macromedia Flash.

Salary Information

$45,000 annual salary. PCC offers an excellent benefits package which includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement.
