JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

GENERAL SUMMARY
This position provides classroom or related instruction in Health Information Technology under the supervision of the Department Chair and is responsible for planning and providing student instruction in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines and required program standards.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in developing, revising, and implementing the approved curriculum.
2. Contribute to the enhancement of the learning experiences of all students.
3. Ensure that program accreditation standards are met.
4. Assist with student advising, counseling, assessment, recruitment, and placement.
5. Ensure that adequate supervision is provided to students.
6. Supervise and enforce appropriate safety procedures for laboratories and other environments, facilities, and operations which are a part of the program.
7. Provide adequate preparation of the course material used in assigned courses and utilizes the approved text.
8. Teach courses as assigned within faculty workload guidelines.
9. Assist Department Chair with program operations, scheduling, and other assignments.
10. Maintain regularly scheduled hours (minimum of five per week) for consultation or advisement with students.
11. Maintain a work schedule as agreed upon with the supervisor and in concert with the faculty workload (at least 40 hours per work week with a minimum of 30 hours on campus which can include co-op or other off-campus assignments).
12. Is available for duty during orientation, advising, and registration periods during the academic year.
13. Participate in college committee assignments but shall not be required to serve on more than two college standing committees and/or boards per academic year.
14. Attend all regularly scheduled department, division, or college meetings unless these meetings conflict with a scheduled class or unless the faculty member is excused by the Chair or the appropriate Vice President.
15. Meet all scheduled classes unless the class has been canceled or rescheduled by or with the permission of the Department Chair.
16. Serve as a substitute within the program for absent colleagues for short-term absences of not more than five clock hours.
17. Carry out assignments as may be directed by the supervisor or are transmitted by the supervisor from higher authority.
18. Adhere to all laws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations which govern and affect the College.
19. Assist in Accountability Progress Reports, program reviews, and evaluation processes required by internal/external sources.
20. Assist with program advisory committee meetings and activities.
21. Assist with training part-time instructors and with the preparation of materials for them.
22. Complete required reports and respond to requests for data.
23. Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and other materials.
24. Other duties as assigned or required.
OUALIFICATIONS
Required Education:
-Associates degree required and applicant will be required to complete a Bachelor’s degree within three years of hiring date.
Required Experience and Skills:
-Experience in the medical office field and knowledgeable in current trends.
-Experience in training staff that could include on the job training, workshops, seminars, or classroom.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Strong organizational and problem solving skills
-Strong Microsoft office computer skills
Preferred Education:
-BA in Business, Health Information Management, or other related field.
-Medical Coding and Billing Certificate
-Electronic Records Management Certificate
Preferred Experience and Skills:
-Knowledge of current teaching methodologies in office and medical administration.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check as a condition of hire.

Starting Salary Range: $33,000 + dependent upon position, experience, education & funding
