GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Nursing Program Director and the Fremont Campus Nursing Coordinator, this position serves as faculty, Nursing Aid program coordinator and laboratory coordinator.  This position provides instruction in the classroom, laboratory or clinical setting.  The position will be primarily assigned to the nursing aide courses.  This individual is responsible for coordination of the nursing assistant program following State Board of Nursing policies.  This individual will work with other program faculty and off-campus staff in establishing clinical schedules, will maintain scheduled office hours and monitor new and part-time instructors.  In addition this individual is responsible for student advising, tutoring, ordering supplies/equipment, and maintaining inventory control for the nursing department as well as other duties assigned.

 

Specific Faculty Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Teaches assigned courses within faculty workload guidelines including evening/weekend offerings.  May be assigned to teach at outreach sites.
  2. Assists in the development and revision of curriculum and assists in the development of new course offerings and program expansions.
  3. Assists in the revision and updating of all program syllabi, lectures, laboratory exercises, exams, and reviews and updates instructional materials as appropriate.
  4. Assists in program and student outcomes assessment.
  5. Participates in program promotional activities and maintains a work schedule agreed upon by the nursing program director and in concern with the faculty workload policy.
  6. Participates in state program reviews as required for state approval.
  7. Other duties consistent with the general position of faculty at PCC including advising, committee membership, department/division/college meetings.

Specific Nursing Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plans for classroom, laboratory and clinical learning experiences.
  2. Recruits, trains, mentors, and supervises the appropriate number of qualified instructors to deliver classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction of students.
  3. Assures that all students have provided immunization records, current CPR card, and verification of malpractice insurance, drug screen and background check requirements before entering the clinical domain.  Will maintain these files on a semester by semester basis.
  4. Assures that each student has secured a name tag and school patch to be worn during the clinical rotation for proper identification of student.
  5. Communicates with clinical affiliates regarding placement needs for clinical rotations
  6. Coordinates student clinical orientations
  7. Ensures that all clinical contracts/affiliation agreements are current
  8. Assists with the development of the Nursing Aide program budget
  9. Assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of the program
  10. Reports to the Board of Nursing the names of all individuals who have satisfactorily completed the training program within 30 days of program completion.
  11. Maintain and provide for safe keeping permanent records and reports for a minimum of two years such as: skills checklist demonstrating satisfactory performance of all required skills, student records such as attendance, test scores, etc and the annual report submitted to the Board of Nursing.
  12. Develop written policies for admission to, dismissal from, and completion of the program

 Specific Laboratory Coordination Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for establishing and implementing equipment management, maintenance, and repair plan as required by accreditation standards.
  2. Organize inventory system, audit for needed supplies, monitor expiration dates on products.
  3. Order supplies
  4. Organize and label storage
  5. Research new products
  6. Provide an update of new products and materials to faculty
  7. Contract with local laundry service
  8. Create laundry service tracking
  9. Maintain biohazard communication and blood-borne pathogen standards
  10. Provide support for students and staff during nursing laboratory sessions
  11. Assists in the development, supervision and safety procedures for the laboratory and other facilities which are part of the program
  12. Adheres to all laws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations which govern and affect the College.  This includes the Fiscal Rules of the State of Colorado 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum requirements:  Associate degree in Nursing
    1. Preferred  requirements:  Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Nursing
  2. Registered Nursing license in good standing in the state of Colorado
  3. Minimum of three years of occupational experience, one of which must be in long- term care service and/or care of the chronically ill of any age.
  4. Must be eligible for Colorado Vocational Credential
  5. Commitment to working with a diverse population.
  6. Willingness to work as a team member
  7. Must possess organizational and leadership skills
  8. Demonstration of written and oral communication skills

 

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check as a condition of hire.

Starting Salary Range:   $33,000 + dependent upon position, experience, education & funding
