GENERAL SUMMARY

The full-time position is assigned to the Health Professions Division and serves as a 1.0 faculty member/coordinator in the Emergency Medical Services Department.  This individual is responsible for providing student instruction in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines, maintaining required program standards for the Emergency Medical Services Department and applicable state regulations as applied to the Emergency Medical Services education industry in Colorado.  In addition, this individual serves as the Coordinator and is responsible for the overall administration and supervision of faculty and classified personnel assigned to the SCCC West Emergency Medical Services.  This individual works with other program instructors, as well as  Pueblo Campus staff and personnel, and with the Dean of Health Professions in establishing program guidelines, program policies, class schedules, laboratory schedules, student advising, clinical internship coordination  as well as other duties as assigned.  General faculty responsibilities are identified in detail within the institution’s Policy and Procedures Handbook.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.                  Teaches courses as assigned within faculty workload guidelines including evening and weekend offerings.  May be assigned to teach at outreach sites, including the SCCC East Campus and off-site locations.

 

2.                  With Department Chair guidance, coordinates the development and revision of curriculum and the development of new course offerings and program expansion.

 

3.                  With Department Chair guidance, coordinates the revision and updating of all program syllabi, lectures, lab exercises/tests, and reviews and updates instructional materials as appropriate.

 

4.                  Coordinates program and student outcomes assessment at SCCC.

 

5.                  Works cooperatively with other full-time faculty, adjunct instructors and provides training and supervision within the department.

 

6.                  Assists in scheduling course offerings, laboratory hours to demonstrate techniques, assist students in practice and perform “check-offs” as necessary.

 

7.                  Serves as faculty advisor for students.

 

8.                  Responsible for ensuring that the Emergency Medical Services Departments has an appropriate inventory control program as well as ensuring that adequate equipment and supplies are available for classes.

 

9.                  Supervises SCCC adjunct faculty in the Emergency Medical Services Program.

 

10.              Responsible to ensure that both state and/or national accreditation processes are followed and that the programs remain in good standing with all state and national polices for Emergency Medical Services..

 

11.              Participates in regional/state activities and committees as appropriate.

 

12.              Participates in program promotional activities and maintains a work schedule agreed upon by the Deans of Health Professions in concert with faculty workload policy.

 

13.              Assists in regional/national self-studies/program reviews as required.

 

14.              Follows guidelines of the PCC Faculty Evaluation and Advancement Plan.

 

15.              Is responsible for adhering to all laws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations that govern and affect the College.  This includes the fiscal rules of the State of Colorado.

 

16.              Other duties consistent with the general position description of a coordinator at Pueblo Community College.

 

17.              Other duties as assigned.

 

 

OUALIFICATIONS

 

1.                  Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline preferred.  Associate degree in appropriate discipline with a plan for completion of Bachelor’s degree.

 

2.                  Current National Registry of EMTs certification as Paramedic with certification in the State of Colorado.

 

3.                  Minimum of four years occupational experience in providing advanced life support care in the pre-hospital environment.

 

4.                  Current credentials as an American Heart Association instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

 

5.                  Must possess, or be eligible for Colorado Vocational Credential, which may require completion of the EDU 250 and EDU 260.

 

6.                  Commitment to working with a diverse population.

 

7.                  Willingness to attend required meetings, training sessions, or other related functions.

 

8.                  Willingness to work as a team member.

 

9.                  Good written and oral communication skills.

 

10.              Good computer skills and willingness to work with new learning technologies..

 

11.              Active participation in community programs including civic, charity, or professional organizations.

 

12.              Ability to manage projects and set specific objectives.

 

 

 

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
