Dr. May meets with Yamagata College reps |
Pueblo Community College and Yamagata College of Industry and Technology of Japan have formed a partnership that will pave the way for the exchange of information and various educational materials. Yamagata College is a two-year school in northern Japan that offers highly technical programs of study, much like those that are offered through PCC's Gorsich Advanced Technology Center. The agreement between the two was signed during a visit by Dr. Joe May, President of PCC, to Yamagata Prefecture, a regional district in Japan, in October. In late 1996, members of Yamagata College had visited PCC's Pueblo campus to meet with Dr. May and other members of the PCC staff to learn more about PCC and its technical programs.
Dr. May's visit to Japan was a true educational experience for him. He met with business leaders, spoke to the Yamagata College student body, and attended the dedication of a branch of the educational institution. He also was invited to submit a proposal for developing an orientation course for Yamagata government employees who would be visiting the United States. The Yamagata Prefecture government underwrites many such information-sharing partnerships. Like PCC, Yamagata College also has a technically advanced rapid prototyping program.
